About Us

Matthew 23:23-24 “…the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. It is these you ought to have practiced without neglecting the others.”

Texas Christians for Reproductive Justice (TCRJ) is a network of Christians committed to prophetic work to address the injustices in reproductive health in Texas. We are committed to:

  • Raising our voices in the public square
  • Supporting the work of individuals and organizations fighting on behalf of those who are pregnant to address the crisis of maternal mortality especially affecting African American women
  • Opposing the unjust, unmerciful, and sinful abortion bans in the state of Texas
  • Educating on the lack of a basis to use the Christian Bible to oppose abortion
  • Ending the guilt and shame around abortion and the anti-abortion’s movement use of coercive language, misleading images, and pressure to force women to carry doomed pregnancies to term.

We acknowledge the work of Black women in reproductive justice and have historically used the term. We embrace the term reproductive justice as defined by Sistersong:

“the human right to maintain personal bodily autonomy, have children, not have children, and parent the children we have in safe and sustainable communities.”
